bedwelmd`geit

“verlore in self se s.u.g.g.g ...”

vasgevang in Mamasura
se self vernietigende
egotistiese
waan

waar “ me, myself, and i ”
in die binnekring van
‘n solo heelal
bestaan

waar ek skaars bewus is
van die rol wat JÝ in
die drama
speel

waar ek die tempel van
GaNesa slegs met
“ yours truly ”
deel

oorval JÝ my! verkrag
JÝ my! en bevrug JÝ
my met jou
saad

waar ek swaardragtig
aan nederigheid se
klein getalle
raak

waar ek geboorte gee
aan 'n eksotiese
spierwit lotus-
blom

waar my selfbeeld in
walms van “die eie
ek” se waan
ontkom

TITEL: * bedwelmd (intoxicated) geit (nuk, streek, aanwensel)

* SELFSUG; BAATSUG - EGOTISM ( Wikipedia) - Egotism is characterized by an exaggerated estimate of ones intellect, ability, importance, appearance, wit, or other valued personal characteristics- is the drive to maintain and enhance favorable views of oneself. In egotism we find the person filled with an overweening sense of the importance and qualities of his personality...the things of the "Me". Egotism means placing oneself at the center of ones world with no concern for others, including those loved or considered as "close", in any other terms except those set by the "egotist".

In the Mudgalapura?a (VII, 70), in order to kill the demon of egotism (Mamasura) who had attacked him, Ga?esa Vighnaraja throws his lotus at him. Unable to bear the fragrance of the divine flower, the demon surrenders to Ga?esa.

INDIAN MYTHOLOGY: Long ago, at the end of the aeons, the whole universe had been engulfed in an ocean, and Creation was all but lost. The god Vishnu, preserver of life, whose abode is the primordial waters, was asleep in this timeless darkness, dreaming of worlds to come. As his dreams unfolded, a lotus flower emerged from his navel and revealed within its many folds the cosmic egg, in which Brahma the creator, was asleep.
As Brahma stirred, Creation began to unfold again, and new worlds, new gods, and new life appeared. In India today, the lotus is still considered to be the cradle of the universe, and many Indian deities are portrayed sitting on a large lotus flower.
